On a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that we are likely going to see Jeff Hardy defend his Intercontinental Championship against two top SmackDown stars at Clash of Champions.
At the pay-per-view later this month, Meltzer notes that we are likely to see Hardy defend his title against former champions Sami Zayn and AJ Styles in what has all the makings of an incredibly enjoyable triple threat match.
On the 08/14 episode of SmackDown, Jeff Hardy defeated AJ Styles to win the Intercontinental Championship. The week later in a segment with Hardy and Styles, Sami Zayn returned to TV to attack Jeff.
Sami Zayn asked to be taken off of WWE TV back in April during the Coronavirus pandemic while he was Intercontinental Champion. A tournament then took place at crown a new champion, which was won by AJ Styles.
The trio also had a segment last week on SmackDown which saw Sami Zayn hit Jeff Hardy with a Helluva Kick for the second week running. The match has not yet been announced for Clash of Champions.
So far, only two matches have been announced for the PPV. At the show, we’ll see Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre defend the Universal and WWE Championships against Jey Uso and Randy Orton respectively.
