2021 has not been kind to Kevin Owens so far. On the January 1, 2021 episode of SmackDown, Owens was put through a table by Roman Reigns.
Owens had intended to put Jey Uso through the table before Reigns got involved. Sure enough, Reigns dropped Owens from a platform amongst the Thunderdome screens through a table below. Now, WWE has provided an update on Owens’ kayfabe injury.
On WWE.com, the company revealed Owens is dealing with a spinal contusion and bruised kidneys. Here is the quote:
“After the attack by Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Jey Uso on Friday Night SmackDown, Kevin Owens was taken to a local medical facility where he was diagnosed with a spinal contusion and bruised kidneys.
Kevin Owens continues to get the best of Reigns to no avail. Reigns defeated Owens in a TLC match for the Universal Championship at TLC and Owens has continued to be a thorn in his side since.
There is no telling how long Owens will be on the shelf with this storyline injury. We will bring you any updates on his condition as soon as they become available.
