Due to the current COVID guidelines, we didn’t see any AEW stars appear at Wrestle Kingdom 15 night one today, and we are unlikely to see any appear at tomorrow night’s show at the Tokyo Dome either.
However, former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, who is the current IWGP United States Champion, did appear on the broadcast in some capacity, with the promotion airing a pre-recorded promo.
Jon Moxley promised that although he isn’t able to be in Japan for the shows, he was watching. He also stated that the “Death Rider” is coming back to NJPW sooner rather than later, which will be music to the ears of NJPW fans across the globe.

If it wasn’t for travel restrictions, Jon Moxley would have defended his title against KENTA (formerly WWE’s Hideo Itami). KENTA currently holds the contract to face the IWGP United States Champion.
During the show today, KENTA defeated Satoshi Kojima to retain this title shot, and it is almost certain that he will be the first person to face Moxley when the AEW star is permitted to re-enter Japan.
