Last year Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows were released by WWE. This happened despite the duo being part of a main event act with AJ Styles. They had been a part of the Boneyard match at WrestleMania 36, a match that has been heavily pushed and promoted by the company.
Now, Styles has commented on the release of his friends. While speaking with Bleacher Report, Styles explained that while he was angry at the time, he thinks everything happens for a reason. Here is the quote:
“The situation with Gallows and Anderson, you know, with everything that’s going on, they should have went ahead and went that route when their second contracts came around. But hindsight is 20/20. You’ve read the dirt sheets and whatnot, and you know how pissed I was about the whole situation. Not at them, but at the situation. I think they’re happier doing what they’re doing now. If that’s the case, then I’m happy for them and, like I said, everything happens for a reason.”
AJ Styles and the Good Brothers debuted in WWE around the same time in 2016 after they all left New Japan Pro Wrestling. They had an on-again-off-again partnership on WWE TV until Gallows and Anderson were released.
