Last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite saw Cody Rhodes and Lee Johnson team up to take on the team of Peter Avalon and Cezar Bononi in tag team competition.
During the match, Cody Rhodes began selling his shoulder during the match, and Arn Anderson seemed to suggest on Coach’s Corner after Dynamite last night that Cody “dinged his shoulder” during the early parts of the match.
Following the Coach’s Corner episode, All Elite Wrestling provided WrestlingInc with the following statement, confirming that Cody has suffered a “slight tear to his left rotator cuff”, and noted that his current status and timetable for recovery are unclear.
“Following the recording of Coach’s Corner, it was confirmed by the AEW medical team that Cody Rhodes suffered a slight tear of his left rotator cuff during his tag team match on Dynamite. His current status is TBD.”
This has not come at a good time for Cody Rhodes, as the former TNT Champion is set to team with Red Velvet to take on Jade Cargill and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal on AEW Dynamite on March 3. It’s unclear whether he’ll make the match.
For updates on Cody Rhodes’ status coming out of AEW Dynamite last night and as we draw closer to the big match with Shaquille O’Neal, make sure you stay tuned to WrestleTalk.com.
