A popular WWE legend has revealed that he turned down the opportunity to become an NXT coach after being released from his contract.
In April 2020, a large number of wrestlers and legends were released from their WWE contracts. One of the most notable names to have been released was former WWE Champion and Raw General Manager Kurt Angle.
On The Kurt Angle Show Podcast, Angle noted that a month after being released, WWE offered him a number of different roles if he wanted to come back. Explaining that he was focusing on his own nutrition brand, Angle declined all offers, including an NXT coach role.
Here is the full quote:
“They offered me a job a month later, a few different jobs. They offered me to coach in NXT, they offered me a job to manage Matt Riddle, they offered me a Legends contract. I turned down all 3 because of my new company Physically Fit Nutrition.”
Transitioning from amateur wrestling to the squared circle like a duck to water, Angle would’ve been an incredible addition to the WWE Performance Center. He did briefly visit NXT in May 2020 to referee Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher’s Fight Pit match.
There has been a lot of speculation that Angle will debut for AEW tomorrow night at Revolution. Angle has added fuel to the fire, posting an interesting video to Twitter earlier today.
