Speaking on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer has revealed that the finish to the Big E vs. Apollo Crews match last night at Fastlane was botched.
The finish saw Big E pin Apollo Crews after five minutes, but this wasn’t 100% clear on first viewing, with some people even initially thinking that Apollo had pinned Big E to win the Intercontinental Championship.
Some people figured that could be a tactic for WWE to extend the feud until WrestleMania next month, but Meltzer has confirmed that the finish was botched:
“Big E won because he was supposed to win…. I do know the finish was botched”

It’s almost certain that WWE is planning on having Apollo Crews challenge Big E for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania next month, but this has also not been confirmed by WWE as of yet.
