SummerSlam 2021 will be held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Now, WWE President Nick Khan has said they chose Las Vegas to stimulate the economy in the city.
Speaking with FOX 5 in Las Vegas, Khan spoke about how the pandemic hit Las Vegas hard. Here is the quote, courtesy of Fightful:
“We know how bad the pandemic hit Las Vegas and the economy there. One of the thoughts we had [at WWE] was to have one of our signature events, SummerSlam, at Allegiant. I don’t believe there have been full fans there yet. We thought a big sell out crowd in Vegas to help stimulate the economy would be the right thing to do with the city.”
Khan also shared a similar sentiment with News 3 in Vegas, saying:
“There’s so much money and commerce flowing through Las Vegas, an event like ours, it only made sense to have it there. We believe Las Vegas is a working-class heart type of town. People work hard, they play hard. To have an event to help re-jump start this economy and get people back going and put smiles on faces, that’s what we do and we’re happy to have it there.”
This show will mark the first time a SummerSlam event will take place in a stadium since 1992.
