WWE has announced that they will return to Madison Square Garden for an episode of SmackDown later this year.
It was previously reported that WWE was preparing to host a show at the World’s Most Famous Arena following SummerSlam. The company has confirmed that SmackDown will visit Madison Square Garden on September 10.
The show was officially announced on WWE.com:
WWE will make its highly anticipated return to New York City, as Friday Night SmackDown will take place at Madison Square Garden on September 10.
The weekly spectacular, broadcast live every Friday on FOX at 8/7 C, features Universal Champion Roman Reigns, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair, SmackDown Tag Team Champions Rey & Dominik Mysterio, WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews, Edge, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Seth Rollins, Big E, Kevin Owens and more.
Tickets for the event will be available starting next Friday, July 9, at 10 am ET via Ticketmaster.
On June 20, the venue hosted a Foo Fighters concert. This event was the first full-capacity show presented by MSG in over 460 days.
WWE returns to the road for the July 16 episode of SmackDown, ahead of Money in the Bank on July 18. At the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Roman Reigns will defend his Universal Championship against Edge.
As the 2021 WWE Draft will reportedly take place on August 30 and September 3, the SmackDown roster is set to receive a shake-up before WWE returns to Madison Square Garden.
