In the second quarter 2021 earnings call, the WWE chief financial officer revealed the company’s plans for international events.
It was recently reported that WWE was working on backup plans in case another lockdown is brought on by rising COVID-19 cases. According to WWE CFO Kristina Salen, the company expect to fully resume international events before the end of 2021.
On the call, Salen stated that WWE anticipates large scale international WWE shows in the latter half of 2021 to match those of 2019.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful confirmed Salen’s comments, tweeting:
“Kristina Salen says they’re expecting large scale WWE international events in the second half of 2021 to match that of 2019.”
Earlier this week it was reported that WWE plans to host the next Saudi Arabia show in October. A separate report noted that the event will feature the final match of the upcoming Queen of the Ring tournament. Last month, WWE announced a UK tour for September
Also in the conference call, Vince McMahon revealed that he doesn’t view AEW as competition to WWE.
