It’s been a busy day for Adam Cole news, and some new information has now emerged as to why he agreed to extend his WWE contract.
The situation is that WWE thought Cole was signed until the start of 2022, but actually his deal was up this past July, which appears to have led to the recent release of the WWE employee who should have been responsible for realising sooner.
Upon eventually discovering this, WWE and Cole agreed to an extension until SummerSlam weekend, and talkSPORT is now reporting that Cole agreed to that extension specifically so that he can put over Kyle O’Reilly at NXT TakeOver 36 on August 22.
There was also reportedly a non-compete clause that Adam Cole would have had to adhere to if he left upon the expiry of his initial deal, but by agreeing to the extension, he’s “managed to kill that” and will be able to work elsewhere as soon as the extension is over.
We’ll continue to keep you updated with any more news that comes to light regarding Adam Cole’s situation.
