John Cena has commented on the WWE return of Brock Lesnar following the SummerSlam main-event on August 20.
After John Cena was defeated by Roman Reigns at the Biggest Party of the Summer, Lesnar made his way to the ring to confront the Universal Champion. After the show went off the air, The Beast attacked Cena, laying the 16-time champion out with an F5.
Speaking with Dan Patrick on That Scene, Cena pointed out that surprising wrestling fans is a lot harder nowadays. Calling Lesnar one of the best ever, Cena said:
“SummerSlam, the greatest sound to hear was certainly the interest. It’s that buzz before the bell rings. They want you guys to take you on this ride and this story. Then, surprises at the end with Brock Lesnar coming out and no one knew what the hell was going on. Those are cool when you can surprise the audience because those are rare.”
(When asked about Lesnar’s ponytail) “I didn’t notice the ponytail. I noticed that he was the size of two Brock Lesnar’s. He looks mean and nasty no matter what. He’s trying to stretch the boundaries of that to see what he can pull off. He’s an anomaly. He’s one of, if not the best ever.”
Lesnar has reportedly signed on for 8 to 12 matches with WWE. His current contract has him with WWE for “roughly a year and a half“.
The Beast will reportedly be working on the babyface side of the SmackDown roster.
