An update has emerged regarding the contract status of Bobby Fish, ahead of his AEW debut on tonight’s (October 6) edition of Dynamite.
On the show, Fish will challenge Sammy Guevara for the AEW TNT Championship. An official graphic promoting the bout featured Fish wearing an AEW-designed shirt, fuelling speculation that he has already signed with the promotion.
As per Fightful Select (subscription required), Fish told individuals backstage during this past weekend’s MLW Fightland tapings that he had not signed with AEW at that point, and has been taking indie bookings in the Pennsylvania area recently.
Fish was released by WWE on August 6. His former NXT Undisputed Era faction-mate Adam Cole debuted for AEW at All Out on September 5.
Also announced for tonight’s show is a Casino Ladder Match, where all but one entrant has been confirmed for the bout. Buddy Matthews (Buddy Murphy) has been hinting that he will make his AEW debut as the Joker tonight, taking to Twitter earlier today writing:
“Why so serious?!”
AEW President Tony Khan has also teased a ‘huge announcement‘ for tonight’s Dynamite.
