A new report has provided details on the relationship between WWE and NBCU Peacock, the US streaming home of the WWE Network.
In January, it was announced that Peacock has acquired exclusive US streaming rights for the WWE Network. Peacock has received a mixed reception from wrestling fans over since the platform became the home of live WWE pay-per-views.
As per Fightful Select (subscription required), a Peacock source stated that WWE’s performance on the platform has appeared to be “exceptional,” and that the relationship seems to be working on both sides.
There has reportedly been heavy criticism within WWE that Peacock is less user-friendly and less polished compared to the previous version of the WWE Network.
There had reportedly been significant resources put in to hiring staffers to optimize SEO for the WWE Network. Fightful noted that the policies for SEO would change daily, so when the solo platform closed in the US, the new site wasn’t completely optimised.
Marie Shadows, a former WWE Network employee, previously recalled changing policies relating to WWE content featuring Chris Benoit.
A separate repot has revealed that WWE are attempting to make their next special, Crown Jewel, a ‘must-watch‘ show.
