AEW President and CEO Tony Khan has spoken about how the promotion’s newly introduced TBS Championship will be used.
The first champion will be determined in a tournament that is likely to conclude when Dynamite moves to TBS in January.
Speaking with the New York Post, when asked if the title will be used similarly to the TNT Title with matches nearly every week, Tony Khan said:
“I think it will be very similar once it gets established. We’ll have a tournament. We had a great tournament for the TNT Title. I think we’ll have a great TBS Title tournament with a field that is just as strong, which really shows how far the development of our women’s division has come since we launched Dynamite two years ago because we have built a number of new stars and a lot of the women in the division have improved a ton and we signed some new stars as well.”
The lineup for the tournament hasn’t been announced yet, but Jade Cargill, Thunder Rosa, Skye Blue, Ruby Soho and The Bunny have all mentioned their title aspirations on TV thus far which would seem to make them likely inclusions.
Soho and The Bunny will take each other on during tonight’s AEW Rampage, and WrestleTalk.com will have live coverage of the show including the hour pre-show featuring Bryan Danielson vs Minoru Suzuki.
