Shawn Michaels has argued that NXT talents are being held to an ‘unfair standard’ following the brand’s reboot in September.
At NXT WarGames, the ‘new school’ team of Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller & Tony D’Angelo defeated Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, LA Knight and Pete Dunne.
Shawn Michaels thinks that the newer NXT names are in a tough spot, due to fan expectations. Speaking with TVInsider, Michaels discussed his appreciation for the veteran wrestlers, noting:
“I’m just excited about this new launch of NXT. I will say, I think they get held to an unfair standard. Nobody likes change. I know that was very tough. I thought (WarGames) was a fantastic show. I’m so thankful for our veterans who go out there and deliver consistently like they always do.
“We have such faithful veterans that are out there and having to bring up an entirely new generation. We put a lot of our young guys in a really tough spot, we threw them in the deep end like we’ve been doing the last 10 weeks. They went out there and looked like they belonged.”
Ahead of Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly’s WWE contracts expiring, both stars seemingly bid farewell to NXT following Tuesday’s show. A new report has discussed the possibility of both talents re-signing with WWE, which you can read at this link.
