Former WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens will ‘keep on fighting’ for a few more years in WWE, as it was announced today that he had inked a new multi-year deal to stay with WWE.
The news was broken by Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select, but French Language WWE announcer Pat Laprade revealed that Owens spoke on his Les anti-pods de la lutte podcast, which is set to be released tomorrow (December 16). Laprade says that Owens will explain why he chose to re-sign with WWE:
Laprade said:
I can confirm that Kevin Owens has signed a multi-year contract to stay with WWE. I had Kevin on my podcast yesterday, we were going to release it tomorrow, but Sean beat me to it. Still, more from KO tomorrow about his decision.
Many fans had assumed that Owens was on his way to All Elite Wrestling. People backstage in AEW have noted that they believe that AEW could not match WWE’s offer to the former Universal Champion.
