Clarification has been provided on WWE booking plans for AJ Styles and Omos.
AJ Styles & Omos’ tag team split on the December 20 edition of Raw seemed to position Omos as the face of the feud, and Styles as the heel. Since then, Styles segment with Grayson Waller on NXT, and match with Apollo Crews on Monday’s Raw have presented the Phenomenal One as a face.
As per PWInsider, WWE plans to use AJ Styles as a face, and Omos as a heel, moving forward.
It was previously reported that WWE has significant plans for both stars in early 2022. Some had theorised that a Styles vs Edge rivalry could be on the cards, however this seems unlikely if WWE plans to continue also using Edge as a face.
Styles and Omos were originally advertised to go one-on-one during Monday’s episode of Raw. Omos reportedly flew home from Detroit before the taping, so wasn’t backstage for the show.
