UPDATE: Fightful has since reported that Becky Lynch and WWE are able to use ‘The Man’ nickname. More at this link.
Following her return and SmackDown Women’s Championship win at SummerSlam 2021, Becky Lynch began to refer to herself as ‘Big Time Becks’.
Since then, WWE stopped referring to Lynch as ‘The Man’, a nickname she coined while pursuing the SmackDown Women’s Title in 2018.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE and Flair were in a legal fight over the term, with Flair owning the rights to the name in pro-wrestling. Meltzer noted that it appears that WWE has given up the battle for the moniker.
Flair has publicly stated that he owns the rights to ‘The Man’ on a number of occasions recently, including on his podcast, and in a now-deleted tweet firing shots at Lynch.
Lynch is currently the Raw Women’s Champion, most recently defending the gold at WWE Day 1. Big Time Becks has revealed who she wants to face at Royal Rumble, ahead of the #1 contenders match on Raw next week.
