A new article has done in-depth comparison of WWE and AEW’s race demographic viewership.

Wrestlenomics has done a very interesting deep dive into the viewership figures of WWE, AEW and IMPACT Wrestling in 2022 so far.

Despite increases in African American and Hispanic viewers year-over-year, AEW is currently trailing well behind all three WWE shows as well as IMPACT Wrestling in the percentage of viewers who are people of color.

In 2022, only 13% of AEW Dynamite viewers are African American, while 12% are Hispanic. For AEW Rampage, only 17% are African American, while 14% are Hispanic.

For WWE, SmackDown has 25% African American and 14% Hispanic viewers. NXT has 24% African American and 15% Hispanic viewers. Raw has 23% African American and 15% Hispanic viewers.

IMPACT Wrestling has 20% African American and 13% Hispanic viewers.

The report provided the following chart:

During the AEW Revolution media scrum, Brandon Thruston of Wrestlenomics asked Tony Khan about AEW’s struggles with African American viewers.

Khan answered:

“I have noticed that. I study the patterns very closely, and it’s something I’m cognizant of, and it’s an audience that we really do want to grow and it’s very important to us,”
