Matt Hardy has commented on AEW’s future, following speculation surrounding the WarnerMedia & Discovery merger.
AEW Dynamite currently airs every Wednesday on TBS. Rampage airs later in the week, on Fridays, on TNT. Both networks fall under the WarnerMedia umbrella.
It was recently pointed out that AEW will likely have to negotiate with former Discovery Chief Lifestyle Brands Officer Kathleen Finch when discussing a new TV deal next year.
There has been some concern that after the merger, some joining WarnerMedia won’t want wrestling associated with the brand.
Speaking on his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt stated that it has been business as usual backstage. Discussing AEW’s relationship with the network, Matt said:
“They are extremely happy with AEW right now. I don’t know of anyone that has been concerned about it. I haven’t seen any kind of worry or concern. I mean, it’s just business as usual,” Hardy said.
“For the foreseeable future, I continue to see it as business as usual, especially because the Dynamite show is doing great. It’s in the top five every single week. It’s a live program, which people love and they’re really behind it. You have to always remember too that it’s only three years old, which is quite a statement that it’s already in the top three to five every single week.”
Dynamite total viewership has been just shy of the 1 million mark since the March 23 episode, which was watched by 1.047 million viewers. The show has consistently scored 18-49 demo ratings above 0.35 since mid-February.
