Bad Bunny is set to star as Marvel’s ‘El Muerto’ in an upcoming Sony Pictures film, set for a 2024 release.
It has been confirmed that the Puerto Rican rapper will take on the titular role of the upcoming standalone title.
In the comics, El Muerto, originally a Spider-Man antagonist, is a wrestler who had superpowers (derived from his magical mask) passed down to him from his family. The character is a competent wrestler without the mask, but gains super strength and endurance when wearing the face-covering.
Sony, who owns the rights to the character, has previously made several films led by Marvel villains, including Venom, and most recently Morbius.
El Muerto is slated for a January 12, 2024 release.
Bad Bunny made his pro-wrestling debut at WrestleMania 37, teaming with Damian Priest to defeat The Miz and John Morrison. The artist made a surprise return to WWE in the 2022 Royal Rumble match, in which he lasted almost eight minutes before getting eliminated by Brock Lesnar.
