AEW’s TV networks, TBS and TNT, are cutting scripted programming development following the WarnerMedia/Discovery merger.
Per Variety, the two WarnerMedia channels are no longer developing new scripted content. The report stated that an insider told Variety that Warner and Discovery leadership is evaluating the strategy for their TV networks to figure out what role each should play for the company moving forward.
It is currently unclear what the plan is for scripted programming currently on the air. It is also unclear what this development means for AEW, which wasn’t mentioned in the report.
While there has been some concern within the fanbase that the company might not want wrestling content on its networks post-merger, the likes of Matt Hardy and Tony Schiavone have stated that they believe AEW has a good relationship with WarnerMedia.
We will continue to provide updates on the situation as they become available.
