If you watched last night’s episode of NXT 2.0, you’ll have seen that main roster star Apollo Crews made a return to what is no longer the black and gold brand, but it’s still NXT.
It appears that Crews is aiming to capture the NXT Championship currently held by Bron Breakker, as he made his way to the ring when Breakker asked for his next challenger to make themselves known.
While it was fun to see Apollo on NXT, fans were quick to notice two quite obvious things were missing from his presentation.
Crews has been using his Nigerian Prince gimmick for some time now, during which he’s been speaking in a Nigerian accent, but there was no hint of that accent last night.
Another, rather larger, thing that was missing was Crews’ tag partner Commander Azeez, who had been tagging with Crews on Raw for the past few months.
It isn’t clear whether these changes are permanent, or whether it’s just while Crews is in NXT, but for now at least we will probably have to get reacquainted with good old-fashioned, non-Nigerian Prince Apollo Crews.
