A new report notes that due to Nielsen ratings reporting error, both WWE SmackDown and AEW Rampage from Friday saw a bump in viewership.
According to Brandon Thurston on Twitter, Nielsen undercounted the out-of-home viewing for Friday and reissued data accordingly.
The already positive data coming out of WWE SmackDown got even better as there was an increase in the overall viewership confirming that the Friday episode featured a first quarter-hour appearance by the recently scandalized Chairman of the Board, Vince McMahon, garnered the attention of 2,389,000 viewers.
On a night when WWE chatter dominated the news cycle with the appearance of Vince McMahon, the buzz did not seem to carry over into additional rating success for All Elite Wrestling’s Friday offering, AEW Rampage.
While the numbers increasing overall was promising, the additional viewership data still didn’t change the overall picture of a lackluster edition of AEW Rampage, still noting a total viewership of 369,000 viewers despite a bump in the preferred by advertisers, people ages 18-49 demographic.
The viewership data for this particular episode of AEW Rampage was recently described by Dave Meltzer as “mind-blowingly bad.”
AEW Rampage continues to build towards the AEW x NJPW crossover pay-per-view event, Forbidden Door.
