Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez were in the news this week after Jade shockingly decided she would turn heel on Perez, with whom she had won the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship the week before.
While nothing about the actual turn went to plan, with Jade’s gimmicked skateboard disintegrating before she managed to hit Perez with it, it turns out it was always planned for the heel turn to take place when it did.
For whatever reason, WWE wanted the pair to win the belts, and then have Jade immediately turn heel on the woman who helped her win them. Interesting.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has noted the storyline went as originally planned. Meltzer originally reported a heel turn was being planned a few weeks ago.
He wrote:
The Cora Jade turn on Roxanne Perez went as timed from the beginning. The storyline they had planned out was that the two would win the tag titles from Toxic Attraction and then the next week Jade would turn on her.
It isn’t clear how WWE will resolve the issue of Perez and Jade holding the tag belts while Jade is being a big meanie, but I’m sure we’ll find out soon.
