A released NXT star has been announced for a title match on the July 20 Fyter Fest Week Two edition of AEW Dynamite.
As previously noted, former NXT star Troy “Two Dimes” Donovan appeared at the July 16 AEW Dark tapings under his independent name, Cole Karter.
AEW has announced that Karter has accepted the open challenge issued by Ricky Starks for a FTW Championship Match on tonight’s Fyter Fest Week Two episode of AEW Dynamite.
The company wrote the following:
#FTW Champion @starkmanjones has issued an FTW Championship Open Challenge for TONIGHT on Wednesday Night Dynamite, and it’s been accepted by @realcolekarter, who’s making his @AEWonTV return LIVE on @TBSNetwork on #AEWDynamite #FyterFest Night 3 @ 8pm ET/7pm CT/8pm PT TONIGHT!
Donovan was released from WWE due to failing a drug test and would have likely been re-hired in a year if everything worked out with him.
The former “Two Dimes” was written off of WWE NXT 2.0 TV with Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo throwing him off a bridge.
Ricky Starks is coming off a loss in the main event of last Wednesday’s Fyter Fest Night One, where he and Powerhouse Hobbs came up short to Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee in a three-way match for the AEW World Tag Team Titles with The Young Bucks.
