Kenny Omega has spoken about his desire to make his return with the Young Bucks at AEW Full Gear special for fans of the company.
Omega and the Young Bucks were absent from AEW television for two months, following a backstage confrontation with CM Punk and Ace Steel in the aftermath of AEW All Out 2022.
While all participants in the altercation were suspended in the wake of the brawl, the Elite made their return at Full Gear this past Saturday (November 19).
Punk’s status with the company is still unclear, while Steel was released from AEW in October.
Speaking to SI.com, Omega discussed making the return of the Elite feel like a “rock concert” for fans:
“We knew we had to make it special for the fans. It felt like we left people in limbo, so we had to come back emphatically. Our goal is to make wrestling feel like a rock concert.
“We wanted people to focus entirely on the match, and whether you were rooting for or against us, we wanted people to enjoy it. As soon as the music hit, we wanted it to be a spectacle. We wanted people to know they were in for a ride. Hopefully everyone enjoyed the performance.”
While the Elite failed to recapture their AEW Trios Title from Death Triangle at the event, the two teams will face each other in a best of seven series going forward.
