During tonight’s inaugural main roster display of a Women’s WarGames match, a bit of a history lesson from commentary and a return tease?
With Michael Cole on commentary serving as somewhat of an expanded professional wrestling historian since the retirement of Vince McMahon, you can add some more previously unthought of references to the list!
During the opening moments of the match, Michael Cole referenced released star Tegan Nox during a reference to Dakota Kai’s history in the WarGames match.
Of course this may have just been a relevant callback to the history of the match, but Nox is certainly one of the names near the top of people’s lists for a potential return, and it was a very pronounced mention from Cole.
Also referenced on commentary, the specific history of the WarGames match concept itself.
With Cole describing the history of the match dating back to 1987 and its conception by Dusty Rhodes for Jim Crockett promotions.
Elsewhere thus far at Survivor Series, an NXT name has appeared to kick off the night which you can read more about here.
Before the show, Triple H paid tribute to the signature match via a compilation of an AEW star.
