There is good news for those waiting for word on Cody Rhodes and his recovery.
Cody Rhodes last wrestled at Hell in a Cell where he faced Seth Rollins on June 5.
Rhodes had suffered a legitimate pectoral tear prior to the match and had the gnarly discoloration to prove it.
A positive update has now emerged on his recovery.
As per Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the American Nightmare’s recovery seems to be on the right track.
Meltzer wrote:
“Cody Rhodes’ recovery is going well. He’s been working heavily with top level trainers to put on size and strength and hit 240 pounds legit, which may be the thickest he’s been in his life.
“He’s back to normal when it comes to his ability to train and left. No word when he’ll return given it makes sense for it to be a surprise.”
Typically, a pectoral muscle tear is said to keep one out of action for six to nine months.
Cody Rhodes previously told TMZ Sports that his medical team has purposely not given him a recovery time to prevent him from pushing himself too hard to beat the projected timeframe.
With his recovery on the right track, Cody Rhodes could still make it in time for the Royal Rumble on January 28.
After helping Tony Khan, The Elite and others to build AEW in 2019, Cody left AEW in February 2022.
Recently, Rhodes’ brother and wrestling veteran, Dustin Rhodes, shared some thoughts on Cody Rhodes’ AEW departure.
