For the first time ever, Kenny Omega teamed with a long-time rival and it’s a moment that sent fans into a frenzy.
The momentous occasion took place at NJPW New Year Dash!! on January 5 from Ota City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.
The show saw the majority of the matches only being made official as entrances were made.
The only announced match was Shingo Takagi vs Toru Yano vs Great-O-Khan vs SHO to crown the 2023 King of Pro Wrestling Provisional Champion.
The crowd was stunned when Kenny Omega’s tag team partner came out to the ring to face the team of Jeff Cobb & Aaron Henare.
It would be his long-time rival Kazuchika Okada.

The two first met at Wrestle Kingdom 11 in 2017.
They would have three further matches, including a two-out-of-three falls match at NJPW Dominion on June 9 2018 for Omega’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
That match would end their eighteen-month feud.
The feud would culminate with Okada being defeated by Omega.
At Wrestle Kingdom 17, both Okada and Omega secured championship gold.
Omega would defeat Will Ospreay to become the IWGP US Champion.
Okada would be successful against Jay White to become the new IWGP World Heavyweight Champion.
