AEW star Dax Harwood has called current WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H a genius, recalling his time working under him.
Harwood and Wheeler of FTR made their names while wrestling for Triple H’s WWE NXT brand prior to their main roster call-ups in 2017.
On his FTR podcast, Harwood recalled some scenarios that made him realise that Triple H was a genius.
Harwood first spoke about the time that Triple H advised him against using chairs in a post-match beatdown:
“[Triple H] said, ‘You know, I think chairs are overdone. What I think you should do is come up with a double team move that you do now to take him out and then use it later as a false finish. I was like, ‘Oh my God. He is so, he’s such a f***ing genius.'”
Harwood also recalled Triple H’s suggestions when planning a match between the former ‘Revival’ and Enzo & Cass:
“Our idea was to hit one move, one finishing move on Enzo (Amore) and hit the other one, the stomp, on Cass and Hunter said, ‘Do you think you can do it to Cass? Because if you do that to a seven-foot, 300-pound man,’ he said, ‘That’s going to make you guys.'”
Also calling AEW President Tony Khan a genius, Harwood noted:
“I know I work for Tony, who is a genius in his own right.”
FTR were granted their WWE releases in April 2020, and signed with AEW later that year.
Harwood and Wheeler will be taking some time away from AEW TV to figure out their plans for the future, ahead of their AEW deals expiring in April.
