A WWE Hall of Famer has doubted the long-lasting impact of The Bloodline when compared to the likes of the NWO.
Speaking on 83 Weeks (subscription required), Eric Bischoff praised the ongoing story saying:
“The truth is The Bloodline story, in terms of a storyline in and the ingredients and the elements and the discipline and the structure and the nature of it, is a far better story than the NWO.”
The story, which has recently seen Sami Zayn turn his back on Roman Reigns and hinted at a return to the division between Reigns and Jey Uso, has been highly praised by fans and industry experts alike.
Bischoff would, however, consider the long-lasting impact of the NWO and whether The Bloodline could replicate that, adding:
“Will it have the same impact on the industry as the NWO did? Probably not. But, that has a lot to do with timing.
“There are so many things that made the NWO work, including Hulk Hogan turning heel, by the way.
“There were so many things that were just a moment in time that helped propel that storyline at that, that time that you can’t replicate that today.”
The initial incarnation of the NWO was Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall and was part of WCW programming that would lead to the company securing week after week of success over WWE during the late 1990s.
The Bloodline formed in 2020 largely began with Roman Reigns return at SummerSlam in August of that year.
