One of the biggest developing stories surrounding WrestleMania 39 is the status of Bray Wyatt and his proposed match against Bobby Lashley.
Following being pulled from an advertised appearance at a Madison Square Garden house-show on Sunday 12 March, speculation was rife surrounding Wyatt’s status.
Despite reports suggesting Wyatt’s absence was due to creative frustration, Fightful Select would then clarify that Wyatt was out for an unspecified amount of time with an “illness”.
The status of Wyatt and Lashley’s Mania 39 match is still unclear, with Dave Meltzer suggesting on Wrestling Observer Radio that the match was still set to happen.
However, both Wyatt and Lashley have been missing from this week’s Raw and Smackdown, with the last bit of build towards the match coming on the March 6th episode of Raw.
While a Bray Wyatt logo was spotted in an LA Knight backstage segment on Friday’s SmackDown, according to Fightful Select (subscription required) Bray was not present at the show whatsoever.
As a further update, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Daily Update that Wyatt was actually originally scheduled for the show.
As for Lashley, a Twitter post from last week had suggested he could perhaps be in line for a different opponent at WrestleMania.
Matt Cardona would then respond to Lashley, seemingly accepting his ‘challenge’ for Hollywood, and even though Cardona has been rumored for a WWE return for months now, him tweeting that obviously doesn’t at all mean it’ll happen.
