It wouldn’t be a big wrestling event without a mountain of merch on offer for eager WWE fans and WrestleMania 39 was no different.
With the pop-up WrestleMania Shop, along with other retail channels, opening a world of themed merchandise for the WWE universe, the identity of the top merch seller has been revealed.
In addition to the popularity of “generic themed” WrestleMania merchandise, Fightful Select (subscription required) has revealed that the top-selling individual star was Cody Rhodes.
Rhodes main-evented the second night of WrestleMania 39 in a much-anticipated match against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
While many expected Rhodes to unseat the Tribal Chief, Reigns would comment on a video shared by a father celebrating Roman’s win on Twitter, reflecting that he’s “helping fathers teach life lessons all around the world” about life not being fair.
On the Raw after WrestleMania, Rhodes was attacked by Brock Lesnar, which had reportedly been planned at least several weeks prior.
The decision for Rhodes to lose to Reigns at WrestleMania was divisive among fans – find out what Paul Heyman had to say about the booking of Rhodes at this link.
