On a recent episode of his Kliq This Podcast Kevin Nash would reveal that a surprising name was offered the chance to join WCW’s most historic and popular faction the New World Order, but would ultimately decline.
The name in question would be five-time WCW Heavyweight Champion Booker T, who Nash would reveal was a top pick of his to join the NWO:
“I wanted Booker. I wanted a black athlete. I wanted a black man and Book was a real dude. He always has been.
“I remember I asked him. I said, ‘Book, would you join the NWO?’ He looked at me and said, ‘Big fella man, Kev, I don’t want to work that f**king hard. You guys work every f**king house show.’ I said, ‘Alright.’”
While Booker’s reasoning behind the snub didn’t seem awfully deep rooted Booker would obviously do just fine in WCW without the help of the NWO.
And while he wouldn’t join the WCW inception of the group he would later get a second chance when he joined the WWE’s NWO reboot in 2002, however this would ultimately be short-lived.
Booker T would be in the news this week following a mainstream celebrity using his catchphrase after securing a fifth number one single.
