Throughout the years, many other big men have entered WWE developmental, whether it be OVW, FCW or currently in NXT.
One of those names was Russ McCullough, who was a part of Ohio Valley Wrestling between 1999 and 2001.
Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell spoke with Kenny Bolin, a former OVW manager, who recalled McCullough’s attitude in OVW on Story Time with Dutch Mantell, where he reflected on his attitude.
Bolin said that McCullough had a short period of time on WWE’s main roster, where he was overheard badmouthing the Undertaker.
He said:
“He never made the main roster, right? I think he did make it. I think he said something about Undertaker one night and Undertaker overheard him.”
McCullough never had a televised match in WWE, but did compete in several untelevised bouts for the main roster in October 2001, including teaming with a young Randy Orton.
WWE Hall of Famer Kane is often considered one of the best big men in the history of WWE, with his career spanning over two decades in the company.
Bolin also detailed that McCullough found himself buried in the company when he boldly claimed while in OVW that he was ‘better’ than the Big Red Machine.
He said:
“He already stated in OVW he was better than Kane. That’s what got him buried here.”
McCullough would end up being sent to Mantell’s International Wrestling Association promotion in Puerto Rico.
While in Puerto Rico, McCullough would lock up with some big names, such as the Big Show and Diamond Dallas Page.
