Bron Breakker wasn’t called up during the recent WWE Draft and, with NXT Battleground coming, the subject of call up was addressed.
Previously, it was reported that Breakker’s current heel run in NXT was seen as “impressive” by higher-ups hoping to continue cultivating his persona as a reason not to bring him to the main roster.
With NXT losing a number of its “heavy hitters” during the recent WWE Draft, the possibility of losing Breakker following Battleground was raised during the media call with Shawn Michaels.
Michaels explained that taking a big hit was a “good thing” and expressed the belief that Breakker will remain on the NXT roster for a while.
He also said that there were still some good matches for him left in the NXT roster as it currently stands.
Breakker is set to challenge Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Championship at Battleground this coming Sunday.
Michaels also addressed the fact that Battleground is taking place head-to-head with AEW Double Or Nothing – read more on that at this link.
The card for NXT Battleground on Sunday, May 28 is as follows:
NXT Championship – Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Bron Breakker
NXT Women’s Championship – Lyra Valkyria vs. Tiffany Stratton
Heritage Cup Championship – Noam Dar (c) vs. Dragon Lee
NXT Tag Team Championship – Mark Coffey & Wolfgang (c) vs. Brutus & Julius Creed
North American Championship – Wes Lee (c) vs. Joe Gacy vs. Tyler Bate
Last Man Standing – Dijak vs. Ilja Dragunov
