Orange Cassidy has reflected on his AEW International Title reign.
At AEW All Out, Jon Moxley defeated Orange Cassidy in the main event to become the new AEW International Champion. This ended Cassidy’s 326 day reign that saw the popular star defend the title a record 31 times successfully.
Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Orange Cassidy looked back on his historic reign. He said:
“I viewed it as a vehicle to have matches with people who didn’t normally get the spotlight,”
“I’ve been in AEW since the beginning. I’ve wrestled on ‘Dark,’ I’ve wrestled on ‘Rampage.’ I see the talent we have in the locker room, and I wanted to give an opportunity for the hardest working guys to show out.”
Orange Cassidy successfully defended the AEW International Championship against the likes of Swerve Strickland, Katsuyori Shibata, Zack Sabre Jr., Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta, Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett over the course of 11 months.
New champion Jon Moxley is set to defend the title for the first time against AR Fox on tonight’s September 6 episode of AEW Dynamite.
WrestleTalk will provide any breaking news from tonight’s broadcast on the home page.
