A rising WWE star has showered praise on a match from WWE Payback 2023, believing that it was an all-time great contest.
Appearing on WWE’s The Bump, NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton discussed the match that she got to witness first-hand in attendance at Payback, that being the steel cage match between Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus.
This match saw Lynch finally defeat Stratus after months of The Man attempting to serve the Hall of Famer her comeuppance.
While Stratton’s appearance was made to further facilitate her blossoming rivalry with Lynch, the ‘centre of the universe’ shared her honest thoughts on Lynch vs Stratus.
Stratton said:
“Honestly, that match was insane. I feel like that was one of the best cage matches of all time.
“Every time that I thought it was going to end, it didn’t. They definitely got me. I just thought it was an amazing match.
“It was so cool to see in person and hearing the crowd, it was insane. And I hope to have a moment like that one day.”
Just days after Payback, Stratton was challenged to a NXT Women’s Title match by Lynch, a match that will air on this week’s broadcast of NXT (September 12).
The match could prove career-defining for Stratton, who recently proclaimed her eagerness to earn a move to WWE’s main roster in the near future.
Beyond her rivalry with Stratton, Lynch could potentially be in line for a major feud leading into WrestleMania 40, click here for more information.
