A WWE Hall of Famer has made a bold claim about her influence on modern women’s wrestling, believing she built a foundation for some notable names.
Speaking in a Q&A with Monthly Puroresu, Madusa (Alundra Blayze), compared her own influence to Stratus’, stating that the two inspired very different styles of performers.
Madusa said:
“Trish made room for the Bella Twins and others, but I built a foundation for the four Horsewomen.”
The ‘Four Horsewomen of WWE’ was a moniker given to Becky Lynch, Bayley, Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks (Mercedes Mone) in the mid-2010s, ahead of Lynch, Flair and Banks’ main roster call-ups in 2015 to spark the beginning of the ‘Women’s Revolution’.
Madusa has been heralded as a pioneer for women’s wrestling in WWE at a time when the division was far more barren, in the mid-90s.
Although widely considered as one of the all-time greats, Madusa previously questioned Stratus’ positive impact, recently saying that the seven-time world champion set women’s wrestling back decades.
Despite Madusa’s opinion of Stratus, one of WWE’s fastest rising female stars recently gave glowing praise to a match featuring the Toronto native, hailing it as an all-time great, click here to read on.
