A WWE Hall of Famer has spoken about a current top AEW star, believing their character to be a ‘version of me’.
Orange Cassidy has been one of the most popular wrestlers in AEW since the company launched in 2019, with his laid back attitude capturing the hearts of AEW fans around the world.
Cassidy is far from the first laid back wrestler in the industry however, including WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam.
Speaking on his 1 of a Kind podcast, RVD discussed Orange Cassidy, noting that he feels like a version of him, because he’s relaxed and ‘doesn’t give a f**k’.
He said:
“Cassidy is a version of me, you know, because he’s so laid back and relaxed and doesn’t give a f**k. I see that. When I first realized, you know, what was important to this guy, you know, his value system. Just looking at Orange Cassidy, I was like, yeah, they took one side, one perspective of me and fu**ing really exploited it into a new character and I like it.”
Cassidy retained his AEW International Championship against Jon Moxley at AEW Full Gear this past weekend.
