A new report has revealed major free agent and top NJPW star Kazuchika Okada wants to perform at WWE WrestleMania.
On January 18, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that former 7-time IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada is set to leave the company when his contract expires on January 31.
While Okada is still scheduled for shows through February 24, all eyes have moved to where “The Rainmaker” may land next.
According to Sports Illustrated, there is significant interest from WWE in Kazuchika Okada, specifically Paul “Triple H” Levesque and Shawn Michaels.
While it is difficult to gain information from his camp, multiple sources close to New Japan revealed that Okada has always wanted to perform at WrestleMania.
Levesque is apparently aware of Okada’ desire to work at the Showcase of the Immortals and feels he has the right opponents, specifically AJ Styles and Finn Balor. Both men have pre-existing relationships with Okada from their separate runs in NJPW.
Triple H believes both AJ Styles and Finn Balor would both be perfect for Okada’s debut if he were to wrestle at WrestleMania 40.
WrestleTalk will provide further updates on Kazuchika Okada’s free agency status when they become available.
