A new report has revealed a major potential merger for the WWE Network home, Peacock and Paramount+ in the future.
There has already been a lot of discussion about the broadcast partners and homes for WWE in 2024 following the huge announcement that the company signed a $5 billion deal to bring Raw to Netflix.
Despite the WWE’s tape library being available on Netflix outside of the U.S., the content will remain on the Peacock app at least until 2026 when the company’s deal with the streaming service expires.
In a new report from the Wall Street Journal, Paramount and Comcast recently had discussions about joining forces in the streaming service landscape by way of a partnership or joint venture.
This potential partnership would see Peacock merging with the Paramount+ app as a joint entity. This would result in major cost savings from programming and marketing perspectives.
Paramount is reportedly pursuing several strategic options and a partnership with a Comcast is now a potential option. The two companies previously came together to launch SkyShowtime in several European markets in 2021.
Paramount+ is the streaming home of several Viacom properties including MTV, Nickelodeon, and CBS Sports, while Peacock is NBCUniversal’s streaming offering and the home of WWE’s content library and distributor Premium Live Events.
WrestleTalk will provide further updates on this potential merger when they become available.
