A top NJPW star has questioned Kazuchika Okada crying during his exit from the company after joining All Elite Wrestling.
On the March 6 edition of AEW Dynamite, Kazuchika Okada officially debuted for the company and turned heel in the process by aligning with The Young Bucks and attacking Eddie Kingston.
This move thrusted Okada right into one of the company’s top storylines upon his arrival after leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling in February 2024.
NJPW announced the departure of “The Rainmaker” in January, which led to an emotional exit from the promotion for Okada across the New Beginning tour that ended in Sapporo on February 24.
Following his AEW debut, current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito spoke with Tokyo Sports about Okada’s arrival in All Elite Wrestling.
On his AEW debut, Naito mentioned that he is surprised Kazuchika Okada went to the company.
The IWGP World Heavyweight Champion said he was expecting Okada to go further away considering all the tears upon his departure and comments when leaving only to join a company with ties to NJPW.
Naito also questioned why all the tears from Okada during his final match with Will Ospreay in San Jose at Battle In The Valley, considering both men debuted in AEW just two weeks apart.
AEW and NJPW have been in partnership with one another since 2021. Naito has a long history with both Okada and Ospreay, including defeating both men in last year’s G1 Climax 33 tournament.
Kazuchika Okada will team with The Young Bucks to face Eddie Kingston, Penta El Zero Miedo and PAC in trios action at this Wednesday’s AEW Big Business, while Will Ospreay will face Bryan Danielson at AEW Dynasty on April 21.
