Earlier this week GCW shocked the world by announcing Shayna Baszler for their WrestleMania weekend Bloodsport X show.
This is a fresh move for WWE as lending one of their stars to an American independent promotion is very rare.
For wrestling itself it is an amazing announcement. More fresh matches with the biggest promotion in town getting into the mix.We can only hope this won’t be the last time as many more names could benefit from performing in a different environment.
Before Baszler started this trend Charlie Dempsey competed at All Japan Pro Wrestling, so maybe a glimpse into the future for 2024.
Whether it be during WrestleMania weekend or at another point in time…
6. Drew Gulak & No Quarter Catch Crew to GCW/Bloodsport
Speaking of Dempsey… He and his stablemates could surely make an appearance elsewhere as more talent is expected to be announced as part WWE’s new path of engagement with other promotions.
The reigning NXT Heritage Cup Champions Dempsey, Drew Gulak, Damon Kemp, and Myles Borne as ready-made for the indie scene.
Their style matches perfectly with the Bloodsport/GCW nature.
Gulak himself is an experienced indy-darling and Dempsey simply has Catch-As-Catch-Can wrestling in his blood, being the son of William Regal.
Lastly, the “Catch Point” stable of Drew Gulak used to be a force in EVOLVE Wrestling. It is safe to say Gulak wants to do the same once more in today’s indy world.
