On tonight’s WWE SmackDown there seemed to be a tease for a new WrestleMania 40 match that has yet to be announced.
SmackDown GM Nick Aldis banned both the LWO and Legado del Fantasma from ringside in an effort for the pair to settle things man-to-man, however it didn’t quite go down that way.
After a competitive match, there was a moment where Rey Mysterio was caught off guard by having his foot pulled by someone on the outside wearing a Mysterio mask.
The disguised man dressed as Mysterio would turn out to reveal himself as Dominik Mysterio as Santos Escobar capitalized on the moment, hitting Rey’s own 619 finisher to close the match.
While the exact configuration of the match is not yet known, it seemed quite clear as Escobar and Dominik left together that they were aligned.
With LWO consisting of Rey Mysterio, Carlito, Cruz del Toro, Joaquin Wilde and Zelina Vega (and Dragon Lee often in the mix), and the addition of Dominik to run with Legado del Fantasma (Escobar, Angel, Berto and Elektra Lopez), there are plenty of combinations that could result in a big WrestleMania 40 battle.
We’ll have to stay tuned to find out if it ends up being simply a singles or tag team match, or something more complicated, as the ‘Road to WrestleMania’ continues with only two weeks to go.
