AEW’s Jeff Jarrett has commented on the possibility of The Undertaker’s gimmick being reused by another WWE star in the future.
The Undertaker is one of the most iconic characters in wrestling. Mark Calaway no longer wrestles as the Deadman after hanging up his boots for good in 2020.
Speaking on his My World with Jeff Jarrett podcast, Jarrett noted that he thinks it’s “almost a guarantee” that someone else will officially take on the Undertaker gimmick.
He said:
“Timing is everything, and creative is subjective. I’m talking about the whole essence of a storyline and the build right. Can you imagine the right set of circumstances where the gong goes off?
“And look. Mark’s doing one-man shows now. He’s very active, with podcasts and all that. So maybe today the timing isn’t right, I don’t know. But do I think its a real possibility? I think it’s almost a guarantee.
“(It has worked in Mexico) to an unbelievable success. It wouldn’t be possible, in this case, without Mark’s incredible run. Same with the multiple situations and instances in Mexico.
“It’s the nature of the beast. As a creative guy, man that would be fun to write!”
Undertaker still makes appearances for WWE, notably hosting his 1 deadMAN Shows in the weeks ahead of major premium live events.
Jeff Jarrett is currently signed to AEW, where he works as the company’s Director of Business Development.
