The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic just completed the first round of the tournament.

Heading into the October 13 WWE NXT, the quarterfinals is set to begin with eight teams remaining.

Looking at the field, there are a few pairings that look to have a better chance than others.

Here is our ranking of the remaining teams in the WWE NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Hank & Tank

On the October 6 edition of WWE NXT, Hank and Tank defeated Shido Ash and Viktor Zanov to advance to the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Quarterfinals.

The former NXT Tag Team Champions are more than capable of going far here, but facing The Creed Brothers in the next round might put them behind the eight ball.

Mini Vikingo & Chazz “Starboy” Hall

On the September 29 episode of WWE NXT, Mini Vikingo and Chazz “Starboy” Hall pulled off the upset of the first round over Birthright.

However, Vikingo and Starboy now have to square off with the NXT Tag Team Champions The Vanity Project, which might be too much for them.

Birthright (Lexis King & Charlie Dempsey)

After Uriah Connors and Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo were eliminated, Birthright still have a shot to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Following an attack on Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux, Birthright’s Lexis King and Charlie Dempsey went on to defeat Tokyo Bad Boys to advance in the Dusty Classic.

With a showdown with The Wagners in the next round, Birthright have way too many threats including Zilla Fatu that may stop them from winning.

Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom)

Fraxiom formed in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic back in 2024.

While they did not win, Nathan Frazer and Axiom became the premier duo in WWE NXT and captured the NXT Tag Team Championships twice.

Despite getting the win over DarkState in the first round, it feels like Fraxiom might not go much farther than the quarterfinals this year.

The Wagner Brothers (El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. & Galeno)

The Wagner Brothers are the reigning AAA World Tag Team Champions.

Getting a bye in the first round, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno look more than ready for Birthright in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Quarterfinals.

While they may make it to the semifinals, that might be the end of the road for The Wagner Brothers.

The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes)

Another duo that got a first round bye was The Vanity Project.

The NXT Tag Team Champions will face Mini Vikingo and Chazz “Starboy” Hall in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Quarterfinals.

The Vanity Project should get the win there, but they should not make the finals of this tournament.

The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed)

The Creed Brothers are back in NXT to prove themselves yet again.

The Creeds got the win against Harley Riggins and Jax Presley to advance to the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Quarterfinals.

Julius and Brutus Creed have to be considered a big favorite in the tournament moving forward.

Noam Dar & Romeo Moreno

However, Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno feel like the underdog story of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic after getting a win over Los Americanos in the first round.

After ups-and-downs since becoming a pairing, Dar and Moreno are on a roll.

Whether it be their match against Fraxiom or potentially facing The Vanity Project, Dar and Moreno are looking destined to make the finals and potentially win.
