Triple H made some interesting comments following Money in the Bank, potentially revealing how WWE creative truly views the popular star.
Following weeks of build-up, LA Knight finally challenged for Roman Reigns’ World Heavyweight Championship at the October 10 Money in the Bank premium live event.
The second-longest match on the entire card, Reigns and Knight wrestled for almost 27 minutes, with the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match being the only bout to go longer that night, at 32 minutes long.
The match featured a lot of exciting near-falls, with Roman Reigns becoming the first star to kick out of Knight’s BFT, and Knight surviving the Tribal Chief’s spear.
In the closing moments of the bout, Reigns reversed a BFT attempt and used the ropes to deliver a low-blow to Knight.
Two Superman Punches and a spear later, Reigns pinned Knight to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
While LA Knight fans will still have to debate about whether or not the star will eventually win a world title, Triple H made some intriguing comments about Knight’s position on the card following the show.
Proof he’s a megastar
In an interview during the Money in the Bank post-show, Triple H stated that he personally feels that Knight proved himself as a “megastar” during the match.
The WWE chief content officer noted that he believes that Knight left New Orleans greater than he was before his title match, despite being unsuccessful.
Also believing that Roman Reigns proved why he’s on a different level, Triple H said:
“LA Knight, to me, left this match greater than he went in. LA Knight proved that he is a megastar, LA Knight proved that he belongs in that title scene.
“LA Knight proved that he is a top attraction in this business, but Roman Reigns proved there’s only one Roman Reigns.
“He got pushed to his limit, but the mission that he is on, he was successful in tonight, showing the world that Roman Reigns is on a different level than everybody else. I think this time, by himself, that is going to be a hard thing for anybody to overcome.”
Does WWE actually want to create new stars?
Many fans were disappointed following Money in the Bank, criticizing Tiffany Stratton’s contract win, Liv Morgan’s Women’s World Title victory and Roman Reigns’ championship retention for being uninspired decisions.
The former and latter results in particular were highlighted by fans as potential indicators that WWE isn’t willing to take risks to create new super-stars.
WWE is very conscious about its lack of top stars, especially following Roman Reigns stating that he believes Cody Rhodes is the only other star capable of carrying the company’s banner.
With Triple H stating that he believes LA Knight has proven himself as a top attraction and a title contender, it’ll be interesting to see how Knight is booked in the coming months, as that will reveal whether WWE actually cares about preparing for the future.
